Official NYEW Breakfast - How to Build a Wind Farm
Limited Capacity seats available

In the 2017 State of the State, Governor Andrew M. Cuomo proposed an unprecedented commitment: to develop up to 2.4 gigawatts of offshore wind by 2030, enough to power 1.25 million homes. Like all energy resources, offshore wind must be developed thoughtfully and responsibly, and therefore this session will focus on how to undertake this monumental task and the challenges that lies ahead.  To shed light on these uncertainties join us for a conversation between  NYSERDA, who is the lead agency coordinating offshore wind opportunities in the State, and DONG Energy, the world's largest operator of offshore wind farms.

NYSERDA:

NYSERDA is the lead agency coordinating offshore wind opportunities in the State, which will support the ambitious Clean Energy Standard to meet 50 percent of New York's electricity needs with renewable sources by 2030.d

Danish Cleantech Hub:

As a US-Danish public-private partnership, Danish Cleantech Hub is a single point of entry for all cleantech related activities between Denmark and New York.

DONG Energy:

DONG Energy is the largest offshore wind farm company in the world and installed offshore wind turbine no. 1,000 in autumn 2016 as the first company to reach that milestone. DONG built and operated the first large scale offshore wind farm in the world, located in Denmark, and is leading the Hornsea Project One in the UK, which will be the world's largest offshore wind farm when operational in 2020. DONG Energy have built more than one quarter of the total offshore wind capacity in the market and by 2020, the aim is to double their installed capacity compared with 2016 from 3.0 GW to 6.5 GW.

In the US, DONG Energy is teaming up with Eversource Energy to jointly develop the Bay State Wind project. DONG also holds lease areas of the coast of New Jersey and Massachusetts.

In 2016 DONG Energy globally had a revenue of EUR 8.2 billion and employed 6,500 people. DONG Energy is also a shareholder companies like offshore wind turbine installer A2SEA and subsea cabling installer CT Offshore.
